I, Newman Kunti Lin (中文姓名: 林坤地 (Lin, Kun-Ti), 英文名字: 牛蠻 (Newman)), was born in Nantou (南投縣 ), Taiwan (臺灣 ) and raised in a central Taiwan's mountain farm where I learned my first lesson of sex associated with animal and plant propagation. In the farm, I learned animal mechanical and chemical castration too. This motivated me to collect the psychological and physiological disorders resulted from vasectomy, tubaligation, C-section, hysterectomy, street and entertainment drugs, and medication drugs in my website action.love. I was educated as an oceanographer with a BS degree from National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelung, Taiwan, in 1973; trained as a coastal engineer with a MS degree from  the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida,  in 1978; further disciplined to become an ocean engineering scientist with a PhD degree from the University of California at Berkeley,  as a California dreamer,  in 1983. I came to teach ocean engineering classes at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, in 1982, where I became a Florida-registered professional mechanical engineer in 1986, so that I could taught engineering design classes from 1986 to1989 and did and certified some coastal engineering field experiments. However, I has never used the engineering license to make living.

I decided to settle in South Florida due to its tropic and subtropic climate and started my own business. In 1986, I formed Applied Science and Engineering Research, Inc. to do engineering and science research, development and consultation, and, American Coastal Engineering, Inc. with four friends for beach erosion and coastal protection.  Under Applied Science and Engineering Research, Inc., I obtained 2 patents, one for beach erosion control and other for measurement of a vibrating pin with a coherent laser beam, and developed the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) parallel processing system for due channels Doppler radar water wave and current measurements.  After I started to find my nutraceutical business was booming in 1999, I formed “Lin Institute, Inc.” to take over Applied Science and Engineering Research, Inc. and changed my carrier. 

In 1996, the American Costal Engineering, Inc. closed its business after a senior coastal engineering professor declaimed there is no solution for beach erection and, about at the same time, the University Of Florida Coastal Engineering and Oceanographic Department was lumped into the Department of Civil Engineering.

My interesting in health and nutraceutical  products was motivated by a nightmare of low back pains from 1988-1993. By coincidence,  I found the cupping massage can induce endorphin and decongest blood stagnation for solving my body pains, cramps and numbness, where cupping massage is a combination of the classical Chinese cupping and massage. I consider it is the most effect method to de-congest the poor blood circulation as a result of stress-elicited arterial and venous constriction.  I further studied the correlation between the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Chi-Blood (氣血) theory and the western neuroendocrine system. I am able to correlate Ying (陰)- Yang (陽) Chi with sex hormones and neurotransmitters.  I classify the sex hormones DHEA and estrogen and the neurotransmitter acetylcholine as Ying; and the sex hormones androstenedione, testosterone and DHT and the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine as Yang. When excessive norepinephrine and/or epinephrine induce inflammatory hormone prostaglandin E2 release in the brain, they cause sympathetic nervous fires (火氣), resulting in elevation of the central brain core temperature. Thus, when excessive hypothalamic and adrenal dopamine-norepinephrine conversion,  the brain and body will catch fire, termed as腎火旺. When the central dopamine nervous function runs low, the pituitary gland is likely to release excessive prolactin for autoimmune disorder, known as虛火旺.  With excessive  norepinephrine and/or epinephrine and prolactin, arteries and veins become constrictive, and the blood vessel walls also inflame when excessive norepinephrine induces inflammatory hormone prostaglandin E2. In addition, a high level of the norepinephrine nervous action on the brain with prostaglandin E2 will result in neuroplasticity (or nervous plasticity), leading to a long-term memory for learning, addiction, chronic nervous disorders, or traumatic stress disorders.  Neuroplasticity is an evolution of the brain and nervous function for the better or worse.  Our brain has started to experience neuroplasticity since we was born. First, our brain starts to react to sound stimulation and then to recognize and learn mother’s tongue and language.  We can impress and memorize things deeply when we are under repetitive stress on the things (子曰: 學而時習之).  Bad experiences can result long-term traumatic stress disorders. One-time snake bit can let you be afraid of ropes for 10 years (一年被蛇咬十年怕草繩). Chronic over-sex results in sexual addiction, like drug addiction. Chronic over-stress can kill the brain cells and accelerate the brain aging.

One day in 1996, I read a cartoon about how to become a millionaire by writing and selling a book. I was so excited. Sex can be a powerful topic to sell since  it is what everybody wants to know but are afraid  of asking.  A mystic power motivates me to compile my sexual knowledge together into a book called " Resonant Excitation of Sexual Orgasms - Tao of Love Coupling"  based  upon my bioelectromagnetic theory of the brain and nervous systems.

I termed my writing into a CD-ROM e-book and launched my website linplaza.com to sell this e-book over internet. At that time, I considered there would be no publishers to accept my English writing or my sex theory. I hit a jackpot by selling this book which indeed turned myself into a sexual engineering expert!

After starting to sell this book, I have gotten readers’ feedback and questions about sexual and drug abuse problems. Therefore,  I have started to collect academic human and animal reproductive studies and  sexual experiments and readers’ experiences and drug abuses,  and to study the brain and nervous excitation of sexual orgasm associated with health and psychiatric and physiological disorders as described in the 5000-year old Chinese sexual bible "Suu-Nei-Ching 素女經" (or Sexual Bible of Plain Girl).  Based upon  my Ph.D. study on nonlinear wave excitation and my thesis entitled "Excitation of Edge Waves" in 1982, I treated the sexual nervous response system in the central dopamine-norepinephrine-epinephrine and sympathetic nervous system) as a quantum well or harmonic resonator (for example, microwave resonant cavity)  with semi-conductor signal couplers and amplifiers, known as nervous synapses.  Chronically exciting central dopamine-norepinephrine-epinephrine and sympathetic nervous  system with physiological and psychological stress or sex-induced stress will increase prolactin, norepinephrine and epinephrine level, leading to activation of the inflammatory cytokines and blood vessel (arterial and venous) constriction and inflammation for poor blood circulation and androgen deficiency , leading to chronic back pains, headaches, joint or muscular pains, and arthritis. In fact, I suffered these body pains during 1987-1993.  This promoted me to further study stress-induced psychiatric and physiological disorders, in addition to the excessive-sex-induced problems as documented in Suu-Nei-Ching.

I have termed sex-stress induced problems as sexual exhaustion symptoms or post sex-induced traumatic stress  disorders, similar to post stress traumatic disorders.  At the sexual exhaustion state, stress induces a high level of norepinephrine and its resulted inflammatory hormone prostaglandin E2 in the nervous system and blood circulation. Chronic excitation of the nervous systems leads to nervous deformation (or plasticity); and the symptoms become chronic for the patients with post sex-induced traumatic stress disorders. The symptoms or disorders include eye floater, ear ringing, short or no memory (Alzheimer’s disorders where I have avoided the term “diseases” since we cannot claim our products can cure diseases according  to the FDA’s guidelines), mind scattering or abstainedness, mood swing, manic bipolar, depression, anxiety, stress, chronic fatigue and tiredness,  unusual or excessive sweating, hot flushes (menopause symptoms for men and women),  resting leg or hand syndromes (Parkison’s syndromes  where I have avoided the term “diseases” since we cannot claim our products can cure diseases according to the FDA’s guidelines), migraine headaches, hangover,  sleeping disorders (including  insomnia) vertigo, premature aging, body pain, arthritis, flu-like symptoms, easy to catch cool or to become allergic, weak neuroimmune,  and etc.. After studying my personal and readers’ experiences, I have developed nutraceutical formulas to deal with the problems and reverse the nervous plastic problems for drug and sex abusers since 1997.

I was inspired by Ezra Cornell, the founder of Cornell University, and Hunter S. Rawlings, III, the former president of Cornell University. In the fall of 1998,  I escorted my daughter to Cornel University for her undergraduate study.  I had a chance to become one of the audience of President Rawling in his freshman welcome address, he encouraged students to listen and to follow their minds to pursue their studies and careers.  Besides, I learned that Ezra Cornell considered any subjects or fields can be studied scientifically and taught academically.  Therefore, pornography can be studied and taught too if we treat it academically and scientifically. After I came back from my trip, I decided to follow my mind to study sex and stress, to change my career, and to give up my engineering professional. .   

Initially, my business was operated under my engineering consulting company "Applied Science and Engineering Research, Inc." established in 1986 when I was a faculty of Florida Atlantic University.  In 1999, I decided to focus on health research and product development, I established a new company "Lin Institute, Inc", dba "The Lin Institute",  to take over the business, so that I could honor Lin’s ancestors.  Since then, I have documented cases and statistically grouped symptoms associated with self sexual abuse, drug abuse and excessive stress.  After more ten years studies and collection, The Lin Institute has become a pioneer research center on these unusual subjects.
