Dr. Lin: 4/14/2002> Androstenedione (the Kidney Yang) and DHEA (the Kidney Yin) can be found in animal testicles, penis and adrenal glands. Androstenedione can also be found in Scottish Pine seeds while DHEA can be derived from Mexican Wild Yams. The penis is full of testosterone and DHT (dihydrotestosterone) receptors which are responsible for capturing testosterone and DHT to fuse the penile growth when there is a frequent erection for refreshing the blood's hormonal concentration under the action of of parasympathetic erectile mechanism (acetylcholine=>Nitric Oxide=>cGMP) and the blockage of stress neurohormone adrenalin on the sympathetic alpha-2 receptors. The erectile mechanism and the stress bearing capacity are associated with the hGH, DHEA, testosterone and acetylcholine levels. The more the testosterone and DHT receptors the more the penis grows.
There are four tricks of using androstenedione and DHEA in our formulas:
1. A low dose of androstenedione and/or DHEA won't trigger (overload) the liver to increase the enzyme aromatase production, where aromatase is responsible for testosterone-estrogen conversion. When you load a high dose of a good stuff (nutrient) into the liver, it will become a toxin and trigger the liver detoxification system to remove it no matter how good the food you eat. There is no exception for natural hormones from animal glands or plants. If you overload DHEA, androstenedione and testosterone to the liver, the liver will become unhappy and then produce excessive aromatase to convert the excessive androgen hormones into estrogen, or excessive 5-alpha reductase to convert them into DHT. If you don't eat a lot of plant steroids or hormones to "coat" the DHT or estradiol receptors in the prostate or hair rooting cells, excessive DHT and estradiol will give you troubles in your top or bottom.
2. Use anti-estrogen herbs to stop the testosterone-estrogen conversion.
3. Use Isoflavones (plant estrogen) to counter the biosynthesis of estradiol (the most powerful Estrogen) and to reduce the binding of estradiol to the estrogen receptors and the binding of DHT to its receptors in the prostate, heart and hair rooting tissues.
4. Use some herbs ( anti 5-alpha reductase) to prevent the liver from over-productions of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase which converts testosterone to DHT, and blend other herbs (DHT detoxification) to detoxify (cleanse) the DHT receptors in the prostate, heart and hair rooting tissues. Anyway, You have to please your liver with our formulas.
