SSRIs Anti-depression and insomnia drugs cause impotence and premature ejaculation for no sexual orgasm

Dr. Lin,

There are currently 3 issues in my sex life that are giving me trouble:

1. Difficulty maintaining erection: When beginning foreplay, I usually have no problem getting an erection. But soon thereafter, my erection goes away. When it comes time for vaginal intercourse, my girlfriend has to perform oral sex on me in order for me to get my erection back. After I have my erection back, I have to take a few seconds to put on the condom and "get into position." My erection dies so fast that by the time I'm ready for insertion, my penis is not hard enough to penetrate her. It usually just buckles to the side. Sometimes my erection dies so fast I can't even get the condom on.

2. Premature ejaculation: When I am able to penetrate her and I start to thrust into her, I cannot last very long without reaching orgasm and ejaculating. I usually last anywhere from 20 seconds to 1 minute. If I'm lucky, I can last 2 minutes. If I'm unlucky, I ejaculate before I even get my penis inside of her. Needless to say, this does not usually please her and leaves me feeling inadequate.

3. Penis size: I have read various figures about what the average penis size is (both length and girth), and lets just say that I am below average on both. It is very embarrassing and makes me feel humiliated and inadequate.

I was wondering if you could please help me out in these 3 areas. Some background information about me. I am a 25 yo male, 6 ft tall, 175 lbs, exercise regularly, and am in good health. I don't smoke or do drugs. I drink occasionally, not very much though. I have epilepsy (siezure disorder). I take Tegret?l (carbamazepine) 600mg twice daily and this controls my siezures well. I also take Pa?il (Paroxetine, an SSRI) 37.5mg a day for depression, and Traz?done 100mg at night for insomnia.

I am a little apprehensive about taking 5HTP. My psychiatrist told me not to take it with Paxil because it might make me go into serotonin shock.

I have tried various de-sensitizing creams, stretching routines, PC strengthening programs, and enlargement exercises (jelq, etc.) to solve these problems. They were not very effective. After reading your website, I'm glad I stopped doing these things as they appear to do more damage than good.
