Case Title: a tubal ligation (Tubaligation) and laparoscopy cause her ovarian pain and spotting and mood instability - why?
Reader: 3/22/2003>
i had a tubal ligation and laparoscopy 4 months ago. I'am in constant pain which feels like the clips are pressing on my ovaries, i take narcotic pain killers for the pain. I'am awaiting to see a specialist i have no pain during intercourse, but afterwards it seems to affect me.I also have intermittent bleeding. This is very frustrating can you maybe explain this pain i'm experiencing.
Dr. Lin: 03/22/2003>
The ovarian pain is due to the accumulation of the mature eggs in your cut fallopian tubes.
There are 2 nervous circuits being disturbed to disable the ovarian functions:
1. The parasympathetic circuits from S2-S4 running along the tubes which have been cut.
2. The sympathetic nervous circuits from T5-T9 to the ovaries which will be gradually disables as the mature eggs piled up against the ovaries for self destruction.
Before your ovaries are fully disabled, you will be continuously experiencing the pains due to the building up of the mature eggs against your ovaries.
Intermittent bleeding or spotting is the sign that indicates the ovarian hormonal cycling is disturbed or interrupted.
Spotting occurs when progesterone level in the uterine tissues and lining abruptly drops.
This can also cause a sudden change of the progesterone level in the brain, leading to mood swing.
