Reader: 5/24/2003>I am 33 years old and have taken birth control for years. I am currently on Tri-cyclin, which I have been using for 8 years. Prior to Tri-cyclin I used Ortho Noveuum for 6 years.

The problem:
My boyfriend and I have had to use astroglide to maintain lubracancy during sex, orgasams take much longer to achieve, and I have had increased occurances of vaginal abrasion. Although I have been on the pill for a long time, the only side effects I noticed were increased vaginal infections as I got older. My physican said this was normal and not caused by the pill. I have increased my intake of yogurt and vitaman C to help decrease the yeast infections. I was sexually inactive for 4 years, before meeting my present boyfriend and was not aware of the problems with lubrication during sex.

I did not have a problem with natural lubrication when I took a break from the pill several years ago, but I did experiance a large amount of hair loss.

I do want to maintain a relaible means of contreception, and I am reluctant to discontinue the pills becuase of the hair loss side effect. Your site was very helpful in explaining how the pill can cause these conditions, but I'm not sure which of your products to take. I currently use vitamins regularly and want to be careful not to cause health problems from vitaman overdose or conflicts. I engage in sports daily, and occasionally drink wine. I do not use drugs.
