Dear Dr. Lin
After my marriage broke down 3 years ago I was left with no confidence and feeling inadequate. I used a pump to try to incresase penis size for a few months, never heard a popping sound as other people have described or noticed an increase in penis size when erect, although the head does seem larger and shaft a bit longer when flaccid. Since then I've had trouble maintaining an erection unless extremely relaxed and focused. This is only when I masturbate and full erection never lasts long. I've not been able to have intercourse because it never gets hard enough and I think fear of not getting a hard enough erection makes it worse. Do you think that I may have stretched/damaged my penis in some way? Is there anything I can do? Is it psychological or a bit of both?

Yes, penile pumping causes plastic deformation of the penile tissue, blood vessel, and nerve.
When you pump your penis from a flaccid state, the penile tissue doesn't produce the elasticity and
relaxation hormone prostaglandin E-1, but instead, it releases collagen to heal the tissue expansion wound. Collagen turns the penile erectile spongy
tissue into a non-erectile scar tissue and restricts the stretching of the damaged penile nerve and the dilation of the damaged penile arteries. You also get over-expanded penile veins and damaged valves for varicose veins or spider veins due to penile pumping.
Thus, you can not erect your penis, although you may hang your plastically deformed penis like a sausage in the flaccid state.
Only prostaglandin E-1 can dissolve the collagenous scar, but it will take a long time to restore the erectile property of the penile
tissue. You have to boost the damaged penile tissue to produce prostaglandin E-1.
