Dr. Lin: 10/08/2004>The brown vaginal discharge induced by birth control pills implies your liver function can no longer properly detoxify the artificial progesterone called Progestin into natural progesterone. When your liver has been continuously overloaded by progestin and conjugated estrogen, the liver P450 detoxification system loses its ability to detoxify progestin and conjugated estrogen into natural progesterone and estrogen.
Since your pituitary-ovarian axis has been shut down by the pills which contain a high level of progestin and conjugated estrogen (another artificial sex hormone), your ovarian function can no long produce natural progesterone to retain the uterine lining thickness. Therefore, when your liver is too weak to detoxify progestin into natural progesterone, your uterine lining becomes too thin to prevent spotting due to a tissue separation hole in your uterine lining. The slow bleeding trapped in your vagina and oxidized or yeast becomes colored vaginal discharge You will end up with a constant brown or dark discharge daily. When you have sex, you will experience vaginal dryness or abrasion.
Eventually, the birth control pills will fail to fake the 28-days menstrual cycle for you.
If your liver function can detoxify progestin and conjugated estrogen effectively, you will experience heavy white discharge, breast tender and excessive vaginal wetness. If your liver function can detoxify progestin only, you will experience heavy white discharge, breast tender and vaginal dryness.
The pills use a high level of progestin and conjugated estrogen to fool your brain's hypothalamus/pituitary gland where the nervous function assume you being in a continuous pregnancy state; on the other hand, the pills vary the dosage of progestin and conjugated estrogen to let you experience a daily variation of natural progesterone and estrogen via your liver P450 detoxification enzymes, so that your uterine lining thickness can vary with a 28 days cycle to produce a very precise period for fooling you. Once the liver P450 detoxification system becomes weak, the pills will fail to give you a 28 days cycle, but a lot of brown and dark, even blue or green, discharge.
