First, you have to know there are two nervous erectile mechanisms - the parasympathetic nervous acetylcholine-NO(Nitric Oxide)-cGMP conversion pathway and the sympathetic nervous beta receptors.
You erectile dysfunction is due to the sympathetic nervous Fight or Flight action
occured in the penile sympathetic nervous alpha-2 receptors, where Fight = "Premature Ejaculation" and Flight = "Erection Withdrawal (going limp).
During sexual arousal, an excessive dopamine-norepinephrine-epinephrine conversion occurs your hypothalamus's dopamine nervous system, followed by excessive prolactin release from your pituitary glands due to a weak dopamine nervous action, where prolactin then forces norepinephrine and epinephrine to attach to the sympathetic alpha-2 receptors of the penile arteries for arterial constriction. The binding of norepinephrine and epinephrine into the sympathetic alpha-2 receptors destroys the initial penile erection driven by the parasympathetic nervous mechanism via the acetylcholine-NO-cGMP conversion in the penile arteries. This is why your penis goes limp during sexual encounter. During self-masturbation, you don't have the sex-induced stress for sympathetic nervous Fight or Flight response.
On the other hand, if your pituitary gland release excessive oxytocin when the dopamine nervous action is too strong, you will experience premature ejaculation.
This is what the sympathetic nervous Fight or Flight all about! In some extreme cases, men can experience both Fight and Flight during intercourse when the prolactin level is shooting up, immediately followed by the oxytocin flooding. Some men can also experience prostate stress pain when the prostate tissue produces too much prostaglandin E-2 due to excessive norepinephrine and epinephrine in
the prostate tissue.
The problem is due to your weak acetylcholine/parasympathetic and serotonin nervous function. Without sufficient acetylcholine and serotonin nervous modulation on the dopamine nervous action on your hypothalamus, your pituitary fails to gradually and slowly release a balance oxytocin and prolactin to help norepinephrine and epinephrine be
bound into the sympathetic nervous beta receptors of the penile arteries to create the 2nd stage erection - the penile ballooning effects for prolonging your erection and sex.
Your over-masturbation has exhausted your acetylcholine/parasympathetic and serotonin nervous function and alternate the gene expression for the excessive dopamine-norepinephrine-epinephrine conversion.
This is an initial stage of sexual exhaustion.
