OK Dr Lin.. I have read some amazing stuff on keeping my hair and improving sexual function however how can I have it all? I want to build a strong, muscular body, I inject steriods and take high protein suppliments with the aim of promoting muscle growth. Eventually, as i have been reading, this leads to decreased sexual function and hair loss, possibly depression and so on. Is a muscular body and sexual function (with hair) mutually exclusive? i.e. is it impossible to have both a great body and hair?
Dr. Lin: 11/25/2004>Injection of steroids has disabled your hypothalamus-pituitary-testicular axis. Your testicular function has been disabled. This is the
principle of the male birth control. This is a chemical castration. If your testicular function is disabled, you will experience male
menopause symptoms, like the middle aged or senior men do. You will have to rely on the Testosterone Replacement Therapy for the rest of your life.
The injection also stimulate the liver to over-produce 5-alpha reductase or aromatase for the testosterone-DHT or/and testosterone-estrogen conversion due to the overloading of testosterone on the liver P450 detoxifications system.
Either excessive DHT or estrogen will result in hair loss. If your liver produces excessive aromatase, you will grow your breasts ( Gynecomastia ), but shrink you penis down to an oversized clitoris, ready for transexual operation with a bald head.
