Dear Dr. Lin,
I have had this problem for over 10 years now and I really need some answers.
About 10 years ago I started having severe shooting pains during orgasms. This continued on and off for about 2 years. I also had that same pain during urination or just when I would feel the urge that I needed to go the bathroom. I talked to my Doctor, he thought it was Endometriosis, so he put me on birth control for awhile. It seemed to keep my monthly pain in control, but not the other pain. He then sent me to a Urologist but he said everything looked fine. It finally stoped after a couple of years...but now I do not have orgasms at all now.I have been off the birth control for a few years now and my monthly cramps have gotten worse. Does all this have to do with the Endometriosis. I have already had the scope done to get the Endometriosis out. But it has not helped bring my orgasms back. I'm only 40...great sex can't be over for me. HELP!
Dr. Lin: 9/23/2005>Your problems are the peri-menopause/PMS symptoms. The birth control pills shut down your ovarian function and mask one symptom associated with PMS (monthly pains) but won't solve the deficiency of acetylcholine, serotonin, DHEA and androstenedione and prostaglandin E-1 in your pelvic nervous and hormone receptors and nerves.
When the pelvic tissues and nerves lacks of acetylcholine, serotonin, DHEA and androstenedione and prostaglandin E-1, sexual arousal or orgasm that triggers flooding of epinephrine from adrenal medulla will cause pelvic pains/cramps, frequent urinary urgency (but peeing nothing). Intercourse will abrade the vulva, urethra and vagina too!.
