Actually, our entire south Florida communities (from Key West to St. Luice, about 400-500 miles long) are the
victims of Hurricane Wilma. Luckily, no body was directly killed by the storm.
After an 8-hour intensive blow job by Hurricane Wilma from the early morning to afternoon of Oct. 24th, broken power poles, trees, roofs and bill boards filled up the streets and highways. We were in
ground zero for 3-4 days, even the wireless/cellular phones were shut down due to a lack of power supplies. We had to travel to Orlando, about 200 miles
north to connect the internet and process the orders in a hotel on Oct 26-27th and to get gas for our power generator. After the cellular phone towers were powered by power generators, we were able to use our
Verizon Wireless Express Networks to process the orders and answer some e-mails after Oct. 27th while we used a power generator to power our office. Thank God! Our local phone company BellSouth finally used a power generator to power our phone and DSL after Oct 29th until our electricity was restored in the
evening of Nov. 3rd. Life is getting easier these days, but, now, we are still struggling for the traffic during the rush hours since there are 2/3 of the traffic lights, about 1500 intersections, requiring main repair. During the rush hours, the main roads become parking lots. Some smaller intersections without traffic lights becomes 4-way stops.
We were luckily enough and did not have any major structure damage, so that we could have continued doing business and
served our customers after we were able to connect internets.
