Case Study: Postpartdum Disorder for no libido and no sexual orgasm
Reader: 3/16/2006>
Dr. Lin,
My wife recently had our second child (5 months ago). Our first was 5 years ago. Since the first child, she has been on birth control pills, namely Nordette. Of course, when we decided we wanted #2, she stopped it and immediately became pregnant. After the second child, she went back on the pill again.
However, since the second child, she has had nearly NO libido, no interest in sex. It is only through oral or manual stimulation that she is able to get turned on, and even then not consistently. Between the first and second child, while on the pill, her libido tended to also be low (but much higher than now), and during the pregnancy we noticed a big change: her libido was quite high, especially during the 2 trimester.
We know that changes to the body during pregnancy make one's libido shoot up or down, and we also realize that the pill may have effects; we are also conscious that post-partum libido drops are possible. But currently, it doesn't seem to be getting better the further we get from the delivery: sex just doesn't cross her mind, and even when we do get into, it is incredibly difficult to get her to orgasm, and when it does happen, it is only orally or manually.
My question is: is this definitely from the pill (Nordette - Levonorgestrel/Ethinylestradiol 0.15/0.03 Mg) or is there a possibility that something became altered during the delivery or thereafter? If from the pill, is it possible to remain on a pill and still regain the libido, through natural methods or through your products? And if so, which products would you recommend?
She is 25 years old, doesn't some or drink or use any substances, and has no other illnesses or medical problems we know of. She never had any sexual problems or abuses before, nor was there ever a period of being "over-sexed" in her life that would contribute to a death of sex-drive. She is currently breast-feeding our 2nd girl, if that matters.
Basically, she and I want her to feel that drive again from herself, and for her to be stirred up naturally. Any advice or prescription of your own products you could offer would be greatly appreciated. We are afraid that a long-term stretch of no drive might become a permanent state of mind and/or body. Thanks for any help.
Dr. Lin: 3/16/2006>OK.
