The gynecologist did not check my blood and did not perform a urine culture and said it seemed that I must have cystitis. He did a pelvic exam and said things seemed okay. He gave me 7 days worth of an antibiotic called Septtra which did not help very much. I then went to a chiropractor/natural doctor who tried to help me with supplements and lasers to kill what he found to be e. coli and klebsiella in my urinary tract. He found this out with something known as digital response technique and with this method believed that I had some "structural" damage. I initially was feeling some results but then got worse and he said that he didn't understand why but it seemed that the bacteria were replicating in my system. I next went to a urologist at a clinic who did a pelvic exam, check!
ed for STD's again (he felt not enough time had elapsed for checking the first time with original doctor), and did a cystoscopy and diagnosed me as having severe cystitis. He prescribed very heavy duty drugs called Levvaquin, Sancctura, and Phenazzopyridine. One was for pain relief after the cystoscopy, another was an antibiotic, and the third was an anti-spasmodic(in no particular order). He said I should be urinating normally in 5 days. I wasn't so I went to emergency at a local hospital which accepts patients without health insurance. In the emergency room, the doctor ordered a ct scan for my kidneys, a chest x-ray for my lungs (to see if an infection had spread there), blood and urine tests, and an IV to kill any STD's of which I told him I had already been tested. All follow-up visits take weeks or months at this hospital and I finally went back for an ultrasound because one of the doctors thought that I may have a fybroid pressing down on my bladder. They did find !
a cyst on my right ovary but the doctor said that had nothing to do with my frquent urination. In the meanwhile, I went for acupuncture and one more urologist who listened to my entire story, charged me $200, said he thought my pelvic floor muscles may be spasming, did not examin my urine, and prescribed valium for my anxiety and to relax what he felt would be spasms. I have thus far spent approximately $3000 out of pocket and on credit cards and the emergency room bill came and it is at approximately $8000. I am at the end of my rope and have been considering suicide a lot lately. Many suggest mental health but I don't want to and and more drugs into my system (antidepressants) and I don't think it would make my frequent urination go away. I forgot to mention that the urologist at the clinic said that the reason I go to the bathroom so much is due to inflammation of the bladder and the urologist who prescribed the valium said the reason I go to the bathroom so much is !
