hi,

i have been taking Finasteride fior hairloss foir the last couple of years.

in that time, i have very thin watery sperm, lack of sex drive ,male breast tissue growth and , more recently, was diagnosed as hypothyroid. i only found this out after complaining that my hair was falling out from the BACK of my head for the first time ever.

my Doctor said that, although my levels were in limits, they wre all at the very low end and that my pituitary gland did not appear to be working properly.

i am seeing an endicrinologist next week for more comprehensive tests.

i also have high Estradiol levels which i believe have also resulted from finasteride usage. From what i have read on the internet, Estradiol ALSO interferes with correct Thyroid function.

with this in mind, i read your hairloss page with great interest. i find it very worrying reading all those Finasteride reports. It also mentioned how the pituitary gland can be damaged - which appears to be my very problem.

can you explain how i can get off Finasteride without losing my hair please (what products should i take and why?) ? i.e. what do you recommend to lower DHT levels safely (without Finasteride use) ??

also, could you explain, in layman termms, what damage that Finasteride causes, with particular reference to the pituitary gland.

finally, do you know if Estradiol causes hairloss please ? (as my levels are high) and DOES it interfere with correct Thyroid function ?

Testosterone grows hair; DHT + Stress burn hair.
If you want to grow hair, you need a high testosterone level with no stress.
DHT itself won't causes hair loss since puberty boys' DHT level is over the roof. As a result, it triggers the the liver to release excessive aromatase for more testosterone-estrogen conversion for a high Estradiol level, and/or to release excessive protein SHGB to bind more testosterone in the bloodstream. Excessive estrogen can cause hypothyrodism and diabetes. This is why pregnancy (placenta) and birth control's estrogen can cause the problems for women. For men, it shrinks your penis, grows your breast, kills your libido and semen production.
You also should check your liver damage with the liver damaged indicators LST and AST enzyme.
Estrogen slims the hair while DHT coarsens the hair.

Of course, Estrogen + Stress causes hair loss. Remember puberty girls with a high level of estrogen won't lose hairs.
