Case Study: chronically over-masturbating 3-5 times a day resulted
in pituitary-testicular failure, retarded ejaculation (no semen production),
erectile dysfunction, hair thinning and graying, acne, sleeping disorder,
concentration problem, depression and no muscle for no more sexual orgasm
Reader: 5/27/2007>
Hello Dr. Lin,
I'm an overmasturbation man in my 33, and I have this habit since my 13. Some days I do it once, some days nothing, but other days I go wild and masturbate 3 or 4 times in a day, sometimes 5. Internet pornography is a big part of this addiction.
I have so many symptoms you've mentioned:
-retarded ejaculation (I can only orgasm when I masturbate, never could through intercourse)
-weak erections
-no more morning erections, since my teens
-thinning and graying hair since my 18 (but no baldness runs in my family)
-acne
-poor, broken-up sleep
-concentration problems
-depression
But I also have a symptom that is worrying me even more: low testosterone. It doesn't just worry me because of the impact on sex, I also worry now because of its negative effect on muscle building and fat loss. I've been weightlifting since November, but haven't put on any muscle yet -- even though I've been working out with a professional trainer, and my weight workouts have gotten harder and heavier since then! Furthermore, my fat loss was good in the beginning, but that has slowed recently. My Doctor checked my testosterone before I started training, it was very low at around 175 ng/dl...but my Doctor says my hypothalamus/pituitary/testicular axis is ok because my prolactin level is normal at 11.4. So I am very confused. I am desperate to get my testosterone levels up to normal, and I don't want to take testosterone gel or shots my Doctor recommends because I heard of the side effects like shrinking testicles. I'm determined to do anything to recover, and I'll
greatly appreciate your advice.
Thank you,
Dr. Lin: 5/27/2007>(from Ithaca, NY)
If you want to grow your muscles, you must have a testosterone and DHT level above about 600 ng/dl and 50 ng/dl, respectively.
Your testosterone level at 175 ng/dl indicates your pituitary-testicular function stops working.
You testosterone is mainly produced by your adrenal glands and brain.
Without knowing your LH, FSH, prolactin, DHEA, DHT and estrogen, there is no way to know if your testicular function is still alive or can be revived.
