Case Study: Why she experienced Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder
- abruptly waking from a deep sleep, hearing train noises, seeing flashing blue
light, elevating body temperature, and having hot flashes.
Reader: 8/03/2007> Dr. Lin
I want to ask you about what to do to fix a confused Hypothalmus and a malfunctioning Hypothalmus/Pituitary/Pineal axis.
Four months ago, I started a full-time job and had to get up to an alarm clock at 5:00 a.m. One night, 3 weeks later, I felt myself being pulled very abruptly out of a deep sleep. It was like a train going through my bedroom. It was horrible. I even saw a flashing blue light in my head and heard a "thwack" noise from inside my head. This kept happening every 2 hours every night for a few weeks. I also had trouble regulating my body temperature.
My naturopath told me I had upset my Hypothalmus and prescribed me some homeopathic drops. They helped a lot with the flashing blue light and the noise. They also stopped me from being pulled out of a deep sleep like a train going through my bedroom.
However, I am now having more trouble regulating my body temperature and have hot flashes during the day and night.
What do you suggest?
Dr. Lin: 8/03/2007>
It is an panic attack in the midnight. There is an abruptly excessive norepinephrine-epinephrine conversion in your hypothalamus and adrenal medulla during sleeping, so that your pineal gland suffers from norepinephrine deficiency, where norepinephrine, in conjunction with serotonin and GABA, is essential for pineal melatonin release. Excessive epinephrine, or excessive LH and/or FSH in the brain and cerebrospinal fluid will elevate the body temperature or sweating or overheating during sleeping, even if the room
temperature is low.
The pineal gland is also called the third eye. It seems the flashing blue light shows in your pineal gland.
The flashing blue light and noise generated inside the brain are like a Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder. When the pineal gland fails to produce melatonin with a severe deficiency of norepinephrine, there is an increase of free serotonin in the brain. But, for some reasons, serotonin is blocked from those receptor (5-HT2)sites. As a result, the nervous transmission is alternated, and the brain a distortion of the senses of sight, sound, and touch,
disorientation in time and space, and alterations of mood are generated. Generally, a hallucinogenic compound binds with the serotonin receptors (5-HT2)
serotonin receptors will force serotonin to freely float in the brain and produce the Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder.
