Case Study: Varicocele surgery cuts off the major testicular blood
circulation for decreasing the testicular androstenedion, testosterone and DHT production.
Reader: 11/24/2007>Doctor I had varicocele and had surgery. But I took less invasive method which involves tying off the veins in abdominal area, so no veins were cut. I would like to ask if this can affect my sexual performance? I heard that varicocele surgery may decrease testosterone level due to worse blood circulation but in my case no blood veins were cut just tied. So is testicular blood circulation worse now after surgery? Thank you

Varicocele is an abnormal enlargement of the veins in the scrotum draining the testicles.

the veins are essential to carry the blood back to your body from your testicles.
If there is no blood flowing back to your testicles, there will be no fresh blood getting into your testicles
Only the fresh blood contains nutrients, hormones and oxygen for your testicles to produce androstenedione, testosterone and DHT.
After cutting, tightening or stripping out the veins, there is no much fresh flood circulating through your testicles.
The surgery won't improve the testicular function; instead, it may totally cut off the major testicular blood circulation.
