Dear Dr. Lin,

Below this email is our previous correspondence. To remind you of my situation: I was on finasteride for hair loss (a doctor told me it was safe and sadly, I believed him until I found the truth on your website a year later) for 1 year. I was as far as I could tell, fully sexually functional, for that time, but I did not experience morning erections, which I only realized was a problem after reading your website.

Since stopping the drug, on October 7th 2007, I have had many side effects, which have worsened as the months have passed.

I will send you a complete list of my side effects if you think this is something you may be able to advise me on or help me with, but here are some of them, since coming off the drug:

1. Loss of Libido.
2. Erectile dysfunction
3. Dramatically decreased volume of ejaculate
4. Loss of sensation in my penis/scrotum
5. Lack of ability to achieve orgasm (sometimes partial, sometimes total)
6. Lack of pleasure or sensation during intercourse.

7. short term memory loss.
8. Weakness, muscle loss, chronic fatigue, falling asleep in mid afternoon and feeling as though I have been "in a coma" when I wake up
9. Constantly cold hands and feet, diarhea (though I can't see how diarhea might be related to the drug, but I am not a pharmacologist or a doctor)
10. Mood swings, depression, suicidal thoughts.
11. A feeling of emasculation and evisceration.

I have spent thousands of euro in the last 10 months desperately trying to find a doctor who can help me, but so far, none have.

The most recent doctor I've seen (a specialist in fertility treatment and a consultant Gynaecologist) has said that I have "extremely low" free testosterone, based on her blood tests, and also, osteopenia - both a direct result of the fall-out from the drug. She says also that my suicidal thoughts/ depression/ despair are related to my extremely low free testosterone level.

I am going to her tomorrow to talk about possibly having hormone replacement therapy. I do NOT want to do that, but I feel I may have no choice.

I am also considering doing a supervised, prolonged fast, for up to 24 days, to try to let my body heal itself. I may go to a Natural Hygiene Retreat in Costa Rica to do that with a guy called Dr. Doug Graham. I am also considering going to San Diego to see the Urologist, Irwin Goldstein.

But really, I just don't know where to turn or what to do. Please is there anything you can do or any advice you can give me to help me?
