I have difficulty achieving orgasm since I began St. Johns Wart for depression. (I have a long history of major depression and since menopause have needed a dramatic increase in psychotropics: Lamictal, Seroquel, Provigil, Lunesta and Klonopin.)
The St Johns Wart is the culprit in my decrease sex drive and ability to orgasm because I was having no difficulty before I started taking it and if I stop my ability to orgasm returns.

Dr. Lin: 4/03/2009>The problem is due to drug interaction. St. John's Wart is a natural reuptaking inhibitor of serotonin, dopamine, noradrenaline, GABA and glutamate. Itself won't produces too much side effects on sex, the reuptaking inhibiting effects on sex are cancel each other.
The problem is: it doubles the negative side effects of your medication drugs on your sexual and orgasmic responses.
The psychiatric drugs are to reduce dopamine, norepinephrine and sympathetic nervous function; unfortunately, those nervous functions are essential to sexual and orgasmic responses.
Once St. John's Wart increases their drug effectiveness, your dopamine, norepinephrine and sympathetic nervous function can no longer support your orgasmic responses.
Multiple body aches, memory loss, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, difficulty with blurry vision are due to excessive norepinephrine and epinephrine and their induced inflammatory responses (with excessive prostaglandin E2) while androgen hormones are insufficient or/and cholinergic/vegal/parasympathetic serotonin and GABA level function are too weak.
The inflammation also induces a roller-coaster effect on your cortisol release. You can experience hypercortisolism in the morning, followed by hypocortisolism in the afternoon.
