Reader: 5/4/2000> I'm hoping someone can help me with an on-going problem. My current urologist has been unable to fully figure out what the problem is and we seem to be on the wrong path to identifying what it might be. However, a few years back I developed a sensation (itchy type feeling) that lasted a few seconds in the area of my left part of my groin (sort of along the vas def...). This sensation only ocurred during ejaculation. As the years went by the sensation got more and more intense (sort of like a strained feeling) until one time during masturbation, it felt like something had collapsed (i.e. a muscle had given way or something) and although the ejaculation still comes out (it seems a bit less) and it feels like the pumping motion has sort of been cut off in the penis area, but it still trys to pump further down the shaft if this makes any sense. We originally thought it was a blockage and all sorts of tests (MRI, scopes, etc.) found nothing wrong. I'm tending to think that the spasms has been jeopardized by something in some way. However, it is now uncomfortable and I also think that since the ejaculate is delayed a bit (sort of like retro-ejaculation) there maybe something wrong with the muscle spasm movement. It also tends to burn now a little bit when I urinate right afterwards, but it's only after ejaculation. Do you have any clue what this could be because I'm struggling to find an answer. Thank you for your help! Dr. Lin: 5/8/2000> It seems you have blood congestion (termed as Fibromyalgia in the medical society) in the groin and perineum area. The fibromyalgia compresses and narrows down the Ductus Deferens (or sperm ducts) to produce a "supersonic-type" jet flow during ejaculation. The high-speed sperm flow irritates the narrowed section of the ducts, resulting in spasmic sensation or cramp. It is like a high-speed flow passing a nozzle. MRI or any scopes can not detect fibromyalgia.
