My chiropractor told me to take "DHEA" but I cant find anything to support that it does anything for errectile disfunction. Please Help. Very sincerly Dr. Lin: 7/31/2000> It is your liver can not provide your enzymes for conversion of these good stuffs into the neurotransmitters Acetylcholine and Nitric Oxide (NO) and the erectile dilator cyclic Guanylate MonoPhosphate (cGMP). You need the liver to produce more enzymes Choline Acetyltransferase, NO synthase and Guanylate Cyclase, but less enzyme PhosphoDiestErase (PDE) type 5 that blocks the action of cGMP on the penile erectile tissues. You also have to reduce another liver enzyme called Aromatase that converts testosterone to estradiol, and androstenedione to estrone, so that your body can retain a high testosterone-to-estrogen ratio. In addition, you have to mediate the production of another liver enzyme called 5-alpha reductase that converts testosterone to DiHydroTestosterone (DHT). You need 5-alpha reductase to burn testosterone into DHT for penile enlargement and bioelectric recharge of the brain/nervous system during sexual encounter, but don't want it too much when you don't need it.
