I have been taking birth control pills, just for pms, for years. I had no idea that it could cause sexual dysfunction and thought cancer was slim. I am at least relieved that this was a culprit of a sexual dysfunction and have now stopped taking them for several weeks.
Orgasms have been much stronger again as they were becoming weak and muffled, so-to-speak. Lubrication seems to be better but I am hoping it will continue to get better. I took the pills for 3 months and then off for a small cycle then would start again. This went on for at least 3 straight years. I have been off and on them since I was 19 and I am now 34, almost 35. Orgasms are still harder to acheive than before but I believe that has a lot to do what goes thru my mind now (anxiety about it). I guess I pressure myself and start to worry.
My largest problem has been vulvodynia. I have pain near my skenes glands that started right after changing my pills to ones stronger in progestin. I really think that caused this pain. I have had other pain, near the glands (bartholims??)) but that pain has been there for years. I have just dealt with it but the pain that started with the latest bc pills is really causing me some problems. Do you think there has been nerve damage or some type of damage from the pills? I know that vulvodynia is highly misunderstood but I really feel, knowing my own body so well, that the pills caused the pain in the skenes glands. I feel like my clitoris is highly sensitive to just the slightest touch in that area and also causes burning among other pain at times.
