Side effects of finasteride for sexual orgasm.

Dear Dr Lin,

I know you get lots of emails and are busy, but I was hoping you could try to give me a somewhat detailed answer regarding the above subject.

I have written to you before about how I think taking 1mg of finasteride daily for almost a year caused Erectile Dysfunction and you agreed with this. I am part of an internet support group (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/finasteride_side_effects ) full of people suffering with the same problem. Symptoms include:

* erectile dysfunction
* penile shrinkage
* peyronnie's disease
* watery ejaculate, diminished volume of ejaculate, excessive precum
* penile and testicular pains, stomach cramps
* loss of libido

There are numerous other symptoms sufferers complain of. Can this really all be caused by use of finasteride? Would you classify this drug as dangerous? I do not understand how so many people use this medication without problems and the manufacturers say that only 2% of users experience mild side effects. Do you think these statistics are wrong? There are many of us out there that have been suffering from these problems for years. Do we all have hope of full recovery?

Some people believe the problems created by finasteride are hormonal and treatments such as HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), clomiphene, arimidex and HGH (human growth hormone) have been used in an attempt to restore the function of the HPTA. The results have been varied. I see from your website that you suggest theories as to what damage this drug does and what can be done and I would be interested in a detailed comment from you, if you could please find the time.

Please, please can you give a detailed response to this with your thoughts and how we can all get better, if we have any hope of doing so. Lots of us are giving up. We are mostly young men who have had our lives ruined and we can't fully understand why or how and are not sure how we can get better.
