Dear Dr.Lin,
Hi! I just learned about your site a while ago when I was looking for some answers re: my problems with my vaginal dryness & tubal ligation side effects on women. To start with, I was very sexually active and multiple orgasmic before and "lubricates a lot" even when my husband just touched or kissed me. But everything changed after I had my tubal ligation in the Philippines last 2002. I also had my vaginal repair(tightening)along with my tubal ligation. But I feel a little pain or little burning sensation in my vagina sometimes, if it's dry even if I apply lubricant. What really worries me are:
1) VAGINAL DRYNESS
2) WEIGHT GAIN
I'm still sexually active,but not that much before the operation, coz whenever my husband and I feel that I don't lubricate at all or with just very thin of wetness down there, it upsets us both. It hurts him and he feels a little burning sensation on his penis as as well, as the sex progresses, coz even I use vaginal lubricants like repllens, kk-y lubricant and allura(intimacy cream),it dries easily. So, in short, it doesn't help me at all. I also gained weight since my ligation,(i don't know if it has do with it)even I diet & exercise. From my usual 105lbs.,now I reached 120lbs.since eight mos.ago,I'm 5'1 in height anyway. I also used to have flatter tummy even I had 4 kids, but it slowly became big after I had my 5th & youngest, & after the operation.I'm taking Synthroiid 100mcg since year 2000. I also read that a certain herb like MACA enhances sexual stimulation, I don't know if it helps in lubrication coz I haven't tried it yet. Dr.Lin, please enlighten me with these matters. Are these the side effects of tubal ligation? Is there a way to have my tubal ligation remove? Does it have risks if I have it remove and would I lubricate again? Are there any cures or medications on vaginal dryness? I've been looking for a doctor like you, and I'm glad I found a site like yours. Coz my OB-GYNEs could't answer or solve my problems, they just told me to have foreplays a lot and apply vaginal lubricants. And another OB told me that sex is not that important. But sex is very important to my husband & me. We love to have sex and it's a part of our lives & our relationship. So it does matters to us.
